RYAN ALFONSO STUDENT PROGRAM AMBASSADOR A dedicated traveler and student ambassador, Ryan has been traveling the world since the age of 3 with over 12 country stamps on his passport. Ryan joined the first Summer Program in Cordoba, Spain in the summer of 2022. Since then, Ryan has led the student program in Spain and expanding to Egypt for the summer of 2025. DAY 1: TRAVEL DAYTravel day to Spain
DAY 2: ARRIVAL CORDOBA & FOOD TOURThe student travel group arrives in Córdoba, Spain, greeted by the city’s vibrant energy and historic charm. After settling into their accommodations and taking a moment to unwind, the group begins to soak in the atmosphere of this captivating destination. As the sun sets, they prepare for an exciting evening food tour, ready to explore Córdoba’s rich culinary scene, savor local specialties, and experience the warm hospitality of Andalusian culture.
DAY 3: TOUR OF CALAHORRA AND PUENTE ROMANOThe students will step back in time with a tour of Córdoba’s iconic Calahorra Tower and Puente Romano. The Calahorra, a medieval fortress, offers stunning views of the city and a glimpse into its rich history as a crossroads of cultures. Crossing the ancient Puente Romano, built by the Romans over the Guadalquivir River, students will walk in the footsteps of centuries of travelers. This tour is not just a journey through history but an unforgettable opportunity to connect with the heart of Córdoba’s heritage.
DAY 4: MEDINA AZAHARAThe group will explore the breathtaking ruins of Medina Azahara, the once-glorious palace city of Al-Andalus. Built in the 10th century as a symbol of power and prestige, this ancient city offers a fascinating glimpse into the grandeur of the Islamic Golden Age. As students wander through its remnants of palaces, courtyards, and gardens, they’ll uncover the stories of its brief yet remarkable existence. DAY 5: DAY TOUR OF MONTILLAAfter their morning Spanish classes, the student group will embark on an exciting tour of Montilla, a charming town known for its rich wine-making heritage and stunning landscapes. They’ll visit local vineyards to learn about the traditional production of Montilla-Moriles wines, sample some of the region’s finest offerings, and explore the picturesque countryside. This tour provides a perfect blend of culture, history, and relaxation, offering students a deeper appreciation for Andalusia’s traditions and flavors.
DAY 6: CLASS AND MEZQUITAThe students will start their day with engaging Spanish classes, building language skills to connect more deeply with the local culture. In the evening, they’ll explore Córdoba’s iconic Mezquita, a stunning masterpiece of Moorish and Renaissance architecture. Walking through its forest of arches and columns, students will experience the grandeur of one of the world’s most unique cultural landmarks, blending centuries of history and art. It’s a day of learning, connection, and unforgettable experiences.
DAY 7: CLASS & PICNIC/OLIVE OIL TASTINGThe students will start their day with Spanish classes and after they’ll head to a picturesque olive ranch for a delightful picnic and olive oil tasting experience. Surrounded by rolling groves, they’ll learn about the art of cultivating olives and the traditional methods of producing premium olive oil. Tasting a variety of oils paired with fresh local bread and other treats, the students will savor the flavors of Andalusia while enjoying the serene beauty of the countryside. It’s an enriching and delicious way to spend the afternoon!
DAY 8: CLASS & CITY BIKE TOURAfter Spanish classes, the students will embark on an exciting bike tour through the vibrant streets of Córdoba. Pedaling past historic landmarks, such as the Mezquita, the Alcázar, and the Puente Romano, they’ll experience the city’s rich heritage up close. The tour will take them through charming neighborhoods, bustling plazas, and hidden corners, offering a unique perspective on Córdoba’s blend of history and modern life. It’s an active and immersive way to explore this enchanting city!
DAY 9: CLASS & ALCAZAR DE LOS REYES CRISTIANOSAfter a productive morning of Spanish classes, the students will visit the stunning Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos in the afternoon. This historic fortress, once a royal residence, offers a fascinating glimpse into Spain’s medieval past. It’s also the site where Christopher Columbus visited Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand to request funding for his voyage to the Americas. As they explore its beautiful gardens, intricate mosaics, and impressive towers, the students will learn about the Alcázar’s role in this pivotal moment in history. The visit provides a perfect opportunity to connect with the city's rich heritage while enjoying the breathtaking views and serene atmosphere of the Alcázar.
DAY 10: CLASS & DAY TOUR TO DEHESAAfter their morning Spanish classes, the students will head to the Dehesa, a stunning natural landscape typical of southern Spain. This vast expanse of oak groves is home to grazing Iberian pigs, who produce the famous Jamón Ibérico, and offers a serene environment for learning about Andalusian agriculture and rural life. During the visit, the students will explore the unique ecosystem of the Dehesa, learn about traditional farming practices, and even have the chance to taste local delicacies, such as cured ham, straight from the source. It’s an enriching experience that combines nature, culture, and local gastronomy.
DAY 11: MALAGA DAY TRIP: PICASSO MUSEUM AND BEACHThe students will enjoy a vibrant day trip to Málaga, where they’ll immerse themselves in both art and relaxation. The day begins with a visit to the Picasso Museum, celebrating the life and work of Málaga’s most famous son. As they explore the diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, and ceramics, they’ll gain insight into the evolution of Picasso’s groundbreaking art. Afterward, they’ll head to the city’s beautiful beaches, where they can unwind, soak up the sun, and take in the stunning Mediterranean views. This perfect blend of culture and leisure makes for an unforgettable day.
DAY 12: MERCADILLO SHOPPINGOn their last day in Córdoba, Spain, the students can immerse themselves in the local culture by visiting the Mercadillo, a bustling market full of charm and character. Here, they’ll have the opportunity to shop for unique souvenirs, from handcrafted jewelry and vibrant textiles to traditional ceramics and local delicacies. As they browse through the colorful stalls, they can interact with local artisans and vendors, experiencing the heart of Córdoba’s lively atmosphere. It’s the perfect way to capture the essence of the city and bring home a piece of its rich culture before saying farewell.
DAY 13: TIME TO GO HOMEAfter breakfast, head to the train station in Cordoba to set out to Madrid Airport.

All students attending the program must be fully vaccinated against Covid. Please check with CDC what current vaccinations are needed for the country you are visiting.
